Captain Burt Led from the Front Lines
April 13, 2005-- James M. Burt may have passed away on February 15th, 2006 but he will live on in our memories and as this month's Recipient of the Month. Captain Burt was recognized with the Medal of Honor based on his actions while attempting to take the German stronghold of Aachen during WWII. He intrepidly left the safety of his tank positioned in the rear and walked past the lead infantry to direct his tanks into favorable firing positions. As the attack gained momentum he climbed his tank and while exposed on the rear deck, he was painfully wounded...
