HARL PEASE
FLEW AN "UNSERVICEABLE" BOMBER INTO A BOMBING RUN

August 3rd, 2005-- Captain Harl Pease found himself over New Guinea during World War II. During a bombing run one of his engines failed and he was forced to return to base. He knew another attack was planned the next day but he couldn't find a bomber that was "serviceable" for combat. He and his crew volunteered nonetheless and found the best of the "unserviceable" bombers and got it prepped. With only 3 hours of sleep he and his crew flew off with the attack squadron. They were intercepted by about 30 Japanese Zeros. Captain Pease flew on the wing that bore the brunt of the attack and managed...
