First Lieutenant Charles Thomas Led His
Task Force Despite Many Wounds
August 8, 2006--
First Lieutenant Charles Leroy Thomas led a task force that stormed an area
near Climbach, France during World War II. His armored scout car was taken
out by enemy fire and he was painfully wounded. He left the safety of the
car and helped his crew out of the vehicle. In the process, he was wounded
in the chest, legs and left arm. This didn't stop First Lieutenant Thomas as
you can read further. He left the service as a Major in 1947.
