First Lieutenant Charles Thomas Led His Task Force Despite Many Wounds
August 8, 2006-- First Lieutenant Charles Leroy Thomas led a task force that stormed an area near Climbach, France during World War II. His armored scout car was taken out by enemy fire and he was painfully wounded. He left the safety of the car and helped his crew out of the vehicle. In the process, he was wounded in the chest, legs and left arm. This didn't stop First Lieutenant Thomas as you can read further. He left the service as a Major in 1947.
