Edward Moskala gave his life to save his buddies in Okinawa
Private First Class Moskala lead an assault  on Kakazu Ridge in Okinawa in World War II. He charged  40 yards through heavy fire and took out two machinegun emplacements. Then, Moskala volunteered with 8 others to stay behind  to cover his company's withdrawal. He personally killed 25 Japanese soldiers. He charged back up the hill when they discovered a wounded man had been left behind. The Private managed to save this wounded soldier by killing 4 more soldiers that came upon them. The solider was saved but Moskala was mortally wounded in the process and passed on April 9, 1945.
