Lieutenant Vincent R. Capodanno served as a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Intrepidly responding to reports of an American Marine platoon endangered of being overrun by a massive enemy assault he left the safety of his command post and dashed through an open area amidst heavy enemy small arms, automatic weapons, and mortar fire. He administered last rites to dying soldiers and gave medical aid to the wounded that could still be saved...
