AQUILLA DYESS
Lt. Col. Led from the Frontline

May 31st, 2005-- Marine Lieutenant Colonel Aquilla James Dyess led his Battalion which aided the assault of Namur Island in the Marshall Islands. Undaunted by severe fire from Japanese automatic weapons, Lt. Col. Dyess launched a massive attack and posted himself precariously between opposing lines to point out objectives and avenues of approach. He would then personally lead his troops and stayed near the front with the advance units of his Battalion...
