NELSON HOLDERMAN
Wounded Three Times But Fought On

May 3rd, 2005-- Captain Holderman found himself in the Argonne forest of France back in October 1918, during World War II. He commanded a company in the U.S. Army. The entire battalion they were in got cut off and surrounded by the enemy. During this time he was wounded three separate times on the 4th, 5th and 7th of October. Despite suffering great pain...

DAY TURNER
Fought off Much Larger Force
Sergeant Day Turner commanded a 9-man squad tasked with holding a critical flank position. Overwhelming numbers forced a withdrawal to a nearby house. They were determined to make the house their final stand. The house was pounded by enemy weaponry, including direct tank fire. Sergeant Day engaged in numerous hand to hand encounters among other dangers but he an his squad managed hold off the Germans but 5 of his men were wounded and one was killed. He bayoneted two fanatical Germans who rushed...
