Tony Stein took on Iwo Jima
Tony Stein was the first of his unit to be on station during the assault on Iwo Jima. He personally improvised the use of an aircraft-type weapon which aided his personal assault on the island of Iwo Jima. He charged enemy pillbox after pillbox and killed twenty Japanese soldiers during this attack. He made 8 trips back to the beach under heavy fire, to get more ammo for his rapidly firing and quickly depleting weapon. See his citation for more exploits...
