Lt. Col. Robert G. Cole and his
battalion were suddenly pinned to the ground by intense enemy fire on June
11, 1944. They stayed pinned for the next hour. Lt. Col. Cole had to change
this seemingly hopeless situation so he ordered an assault of the nearby
