Mills Advanced Toward Enemy Alone to Draw Fire Away From Platoon
Private James H. Mills preceded his platoon into a heavily fortified enemy encampment. He proceeded to fire his M 1 machinegun with deadly accuracy. He eliminated or captured numerous enemies. He chose to sit in a ditch as a distraction to the enemy and drew their continuous fire while his platoon secured and advanced from a favorable position. This led to a route of the enemy forces...
