James H. Monroe

"Answering the Call"
PAINTING

View the full sized digital painting by DreamWorks artist Matt Hall specially commissioned for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Matt will do a new painting each month telling a little bit of the stories of MOH recipients. This is a depiction of James H. Monroe in the fields of Vietnam. He is preparing to throw himself upon a live North Vietnamese grenade. This was the action that both led to his death and recognition for the Medal of Honor.
