DeJuan Strickland’s journey of helping others is deeply rooted in his personal experience with food insecurity. He created a GoFundMe campaign. His goal was ambitious but straightforward: to clear the entire school’s lunch debt. Through this campaign, he successfully gathered donations, which he used to wipe out the negative balances, thereby ensuring that every student could enjoy their lunch without financial worry. DJ also has a passion for STEM. DJ runs Team Tech Boy, a business he started when he was 12 to encourage kids’ interest in STEM. And he has written two STEM-themed comic books, Tech Boy and Science Girl.
