Medal of Honor Character Development Program

Middle & High School Lesson Plans

Inspire Your Students to Become the Leaders of Tomorrow

The Character Development Program (CDP) is an excellent tool to ignite your students’ passion for learning and inspire them to become the heroes and leaders of tomorrow. CDP is free, ready-made, teacher-vetted, and can be seamlessly integrated into any curriculum.

Respondents to our recent CMOHS poll felt that only 26% of young people were learning values in their schools. CDP’s mission is to change that by teaching courage, commitment, integrity, sacrifice, citizenship, and patriotism to students through academically grounded lessons. Teachers Share What They Love About CDP

We are seeing more integrity in our students’ actions as well as in their analysis of characters’ behavior in the novels and short stories we read. We also see an increased focus on owning and correcting poor decisions. This program is an invaluable resource to develop and enhance those traits!

How to Use Our Lesson Plans

By offering a strong starting point to introduce your students to the Medal of Honor and its values, as well as themed lessons that facilitate a deeper dive into specific character values, you will have the resources you need to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

We advise starting with the Foundational Lessons (A1 – A11) when first introducing your students to CDP. Each lesson module balances direct instruction with thoughtful discussions, hands-on activities, and videos that teach foundational lessons of character.

These lessons are designed to be flexible, so adjust as needed — after all, you’re the expert! Whether you want to build a whole course around the lessons or simply incorporate a few lessons into your curriculum, you have the flexibility to do so with CDP.

Below, you will find middle and high school lesson plans from the Character Development Program. You can search and sort by subject, lesson title, or character value to nd a lesson or download a PDF of all the lessons. Let’s inspire the next generation of leaders together.
