Supplement Your Lesson Plan
Character development lessons are grounded in cross-curricular academics, making it simple for educators to incorporate them into an existing curriculum and double the accomplishments in their precious class time. Built to be flexible, the Character Development Program is appropriate for public, private, charter, homeschool, and extra-curricular settings. The materials can be used in both a traditional classroom environment as well as a remote-learning setting.
Lead Students by Example
This program is accompanied by live interviews with Medal of Honor Recipients as well as extraordinary military and civilian stories to inspire students. Lesson plans are based on the Medal of Honor’s six core values of courage, commitment, sacrifice, integrity, patriotism and citizenship. After all, character is best taught by example and there are no greater examples than our nation’s greatest heroes.
Build Character in the Classroom
Students learn valuable lessons in the classroom, and giving students the opportunity to learn lessons that they will carry with them through life is worthwhile. Living history videos and lessons teach students that ordinary people can meet great challenges and make the world around them a better place. Each lesson highlights skills such as writing, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Free Resource for Educators
The entire Character Development Program is available at no cost to educators. The curriculum includes individual and group activities, worksheets and extended activity suggestions, and resources such as Medal of Honor citations, live and archived webinars, and an extensive living history collection. Lesson plans are available for grades K-12 and curated by age level with Elementary Resources for grades K-6 and Secondary Resources for grades 6-12.
