Today we are highlighting the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Executive Director of Healthcare and Advocacy, Jane Barnes. Jane has more than 35 years of experience in healthcare and case management, and has been a part of the Society team for almost five years.
In her position with the Society, Jane serves as a nurse consultant and care manager and tirelessly advocates for Recipients’ immediate and long-term healthcare.
As part of her day-to-day work, she participates in one-on-one consultations with Recipients and their families to identify needs, concerns, and to make a plan to address them. She identifies physicians, tracks medical records, and addresses insurance claim issues. Jane’s work also involves assisting with long-term care planning. She aids in the preparation of healthcare plans, hospice care, and veteran burial benefits. In addition, Jane evaluates the health and provides plans for Recipients when they plan to travel or attend events.
In the time that Jane has been with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, she has provided invaluable care to Recipients. Jane has helped to navigate insurance claims for Recipients and connected them with therapy options. Her work helps to ensure that Medal of Honor Recipients obtain access to the highest level of quality healthcare.
