While it is important to recognize and honor those who have served on Veterans Day, supporting our active-duty and retired service members is something that we should strive to do each and every day. After all, when Veterans return home and transition to civilian life, they and their family members may face unexpected challenges that impact their health and wellbeing. Medal of Honor Recipients are stepping up to meet fellow Veterans’ needs through the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Veterans Outreach Program.
Through the Society’s outreach initiatives, specifically the Veterans Outreach Program, Recipients connect with active-duty and retired service members across the country to both challenge and inspire them to carry the values embodied in the Medal of Honor into their own communities.
The Veterans Outreach Program is on the frontline, targeting the resiliency and wellness challenges that the Veteran and active-duty military communities face. Our program connects Medal of Honor Recipients with organizations in the public and private sectors that are tackling these issues. While they are not trained clinicians, Recipients use their personal experiences to engage through motivation, inspiration, and positive examples.
As part of our Veterans Outreach Program, the Society is hosting several virtual events throughout the month of November. Scheduled events include four “Chief Chats” with the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), an appearance at the Veterans Bridge Home Veterans Day Celebration, and several virtual interviews with Veteran non-profit organizations across the country. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces sacrifice so much to defend our nation. They are often separated from their families for months or even years at a time and are often placed in life-threatening situations that require them to go above and beyond the call of duty. By supporting the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and its Recipients, you can make a direct impact on the lives of Veterans across the country. Join us in honoring all members of the U.S. Armed Forces today by making a gift in the name of a Veteran who has made a significant impact on your life.
