Character Development Program: Online Training
Our world has gone more digital than ever, and the Medal of Honor Character Development Program is rising to the challenge with a new training program. For educators who want to share the stories of Recipients with students but have not been able to attend one of our in-person sessions, this opportunity is an ideal way to learn strategies for using the lessons, without ever leaving home.
This interactive, engaging, online learning experience is completely free and takes about 2.5 hours to complete. The training can be accessed from any computer or mobile device, and the user’s progress will be saved, so it is easy to come back and finish whenever is convenient. Educators taking the course will be guided through twelve modules, featuring Tips from the Trenches videos created by our training team, Oral History videos of Medal of Honor Recipients, informative text and activities. Like the in-person training, the online experience features the stories of Medal of Honor Recipients like Clarence Sasser and Sal Giunta, but the online training features a brand-new video about Mary Walker, the only female Recipient of the Medal of Honor. Educators who enroll in the online training course will also have the chance to engage with their fellow educators across the country.
Those who work their way through all the modules in the Learning Management System will receive a digital certificate and the chance to complete an additional offline project for graduate level extension credit through the University of San Diego. For schools or districts who want to have a group of teachers go through the online training together, we will offer opportunities for virtual implementation workshops with one of our trainers.
We are grateful to our friends at the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation for funding this exciting new opportunity for educators.
