As part of our Character Development Program, we are proud to provide a variety of resources to help teachers learn about the Medal of Honor and its Recipients. During the past year, due to the pandemic, we have adjusted our program to provide online training for teachers across the United States. Now, as we see numbers declining, we are excited to announce that we will once again begin hosting our free, in-person training sessions starting this summer.
This year, we ask that all those who want to attend please register beforehand and be prepared to follow local Covid-19 protocols. To enhance health safety, protocols in addition to local regulations may also be established by the training venue for educators and trainers to follow.
We are excited to host educators across the country in a safe and healthy manner. Below, you will find more information on what our in-person training entails and how to participate in our upcoming events.
During our in-person training, our trainers will introduce teachers to the Medal of Honor, demonstrate many ways to utilize the lessons in the curriculum, and provide time for collaboration and planning. By the end of the day, teachers will be prepared to use the materials with their students.
We offer both elementary and secondary sessions for teachers from all subject areas. Anyone who works with students is also invited to join us; this may include counselors, coaches, and administrators.
Our in-person training sessions are free of charge, and those who attend will also receive all of our resources during the session. A light lunch will also be provided to those who participate. These sessions are a great resource for educators to discover important techniques for teaching the curriculum to their students.
This summer we will be hosting in-person training sessions in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Billings, Montana. We invite those interested in attending to register through the event pages.
We are also excited to announce that we will be participating in two educator seminars with Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge this summer. These seminars feature a Character Development Program training as well as an opportunity to meet a Medal of Honor Recipient. Note the registration for these seminars is coordinated by Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. Please visit their website for more information.
As a reminder, we will be strictly following and enforcing all Covid-19 health guidelines presented by each training location.
