Exploring the Six Core Values

  1. Introduction

    In this lesson, you'll be teaching students core values held by the Medal of Honor Recipients and will end the lesson with an informational essay assignment. This 45-minute lesson intended for grades 3-6 features a video about Citizen Honors Awardee Myles Eckert, alongside a combination of hands-on small and whole group activities that dive into the core values of Courage, Sacrifice, Integrity, Commitment, Patriotism, and Citizenship.

    Students Will:

    • Research, define, and interpret the six core values

    • Use these definitions and interpretations in an informational essay
