The Congressional Medal of Honor Society aims to empower youth and adults with knowledge to strengthen communities and change lives.
Medal of Honor Character Development Program
The Character Development Program is an engaging, no-cost, character-based curriculum designed by teachers to provide students with the opportunity to explore the values of the Medal of Honor. This program has trained more than 17,500 educators and distributed 75,000 curriculum kits across the country.
The Society provides higher education scholarships annually to Veterans and children of Recipients.
“Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty” and “Choosing Courage: Inspiring True Stories of What it Means to Be A Hero” are both distributed to schools, businesses, and individuals thanks to the generosity of the Society’s supporters.
The Society aims to bring Recipients together and bridge important gaps with the American public, as well as address wellness and resiliency for Veterans.
The Veteran’s Outreach Program is on the frontline, targeting the resiliency and wellness challenges of the Veterans and active-duty military communities. This program connects 60 to 100 attendees at four to six events each month.
Recipients regularly serve as speakers, panelists, and participants at events of all sizes and formats to address topics like leadership, character-building, patriotism, and integrity at four to six events each month.
Annual Society Conventions
Our Annual Society Conventions provide opportunities for Recipients to reconnect and remember those who have passed while conducting Society business and engaging with their convention host communities.
By encouraging all Americans to put the Medal of Honor values into action, and by recognizing those who do, the Society shines a light on those who are impacting our communities in positive ways and inspiring others. The following are some of our awards:
Other awards include the John R. “Tex” McCrary Award for Excellence in Journalism and the Bob Hope Award for Entertainment.
By maintaining a museum, library, archives, and research collection dedicated to the Medal of Honor and its Recipients, recording and collecting more than 125 oral histories, and sharing these resources with researchers and the general public, the Society plays an integral role in ensuring the stories of the Recipients are never forgotten.
The Society supports the Recipients so they and their families can stay focused on their outreach.
