WHY: | The War on Terror has led to a veteran crisis of epic proportions not seen since the end of WWII. 20 veterans commit suicide each day and it is estimated that over 30,000 are homeless.
Over 3 million veteran soldiers served exclusively after 9/11 and were TWICE as likely have been deployed in a combat zone. Patriot Award honorees Gary Sinise and Dave McIntyre are fighting the enemy at home: the enemy of post-military homelessness, disillusionment, and disappointment.
Our country needs heroes, in and out of uniform, who exemplify the values embodied in the Medal of Honor: courage, sacrifice, commitment, citizenship, integrity, and patriotism. Honorees Gary Sinise and Dave McIntyre are worthy of this designation.
