Commit-MINT to Growth

  1. Introduction

    This unique commitment activity for elementary students will teach the values of commitment and patience by asking them to grow and nurture a class mint plant. Meant specifically for first-grade classrooms, this lesson will help students deepen their understanding of commitment and reflect on how they've shown commitment in their own lives. Necessary materials include Steven Kroll's The Biggest Pumpkin Ever, mint seeds, soil, a large planting pot, and the provided Commit MINT to Growth Lesson PDF.

  2. Objectives

    Students Will:

    • Deepen their understanding of commitment

    • Show commitment by planting and caring for a class plant

    • Reflect on and analyze their experiences of showing commitment
