Veteran Support Organization Named Silver Mission Partner by Medal of Honor Foundation
Charleston, S.C. — The Medal of Honor Foundation (the Foundation) today announced that Tee It Up for the Troops, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping military veterans and their families transition after returning from the battlefront, has become a Silver-level Mission Partner to the Foundation.
The organization’s Silver-level partnership signifies its generous support of the Medal of Honor Recipients’ efforts to preserve the legacy of the Medal of Honor, support its Recipients, inspire Americans and veterans, and restore core American values in schools and communities.
Congressional Medal of Honor Society President and Medal of Honor Recipient Britt Slabinski said, “We are immensely thankful for the support from Tee It Up for the Troops. Their contributions not only empower the mission of the Medal of Honor Foundation but also facilitate the delivery of millions of dollars in support for our country’s veterans.”
Slabinski added, “Their efforts are particularly special as they bring veterans and non-veterans together through the game of golf, played on some of the most beautiful courses across our nation.”
Tee It Up for the Troops engages communities to raise awareness and provide support to America’s military veterans by organizing golf events, outreach programs, and fundraisers. Those efforts drive their mission to “help military veterans and their families to heal, transition, grow, and thrive.” In addition to supporting many other military nonprofits, Tee It Up for the Troops also organizes REUNION, an outreach program where combat veterans reunite with battle buddies who were separated due to battlefield injuries.
Tim Wegscheid, President and Executive Director of Tee It Up for the Troops, added, “We are so grateful for the Medal of Honor Foundation and the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s participation in our activities. Both our civilian and veteran participants are incredibly honored to have the chance to meet our country’s greatest heroes, and we look forward to further strengthening the relationship between these organizations so that we can continue to support veterans.”
The Medal of Honor Foundation fuels the work of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, a congressionally chartered organization whose membership consists exclusively of those individuals who have received the United States’ highest award for military valor in action, the Medal of Honor.
Mission Partners like Tee It Up for the Troops provide resources to support Medal of Honor programs like the K-12-character education curriculum, inspirational community presentations by Medal of Honor Recipients, and an awards program for ordinary citizens who do extraordinary acts of courage.
“Tim and the entire Tee It Up for the Troops team are using one of our country’s favorite past times to allow Americans to contribute to important veteran-support initiatives,” said Foundation Executive Director John Shertzer. “They do so in a manner that brings veterans and non-veterans together. It’s inspiring to see their events come together and the impact they are making on veterans and their families, and we can’t wait to join them at Desert Mountain Club in Arizona on May 13.”
The Medal of Honor Mission Partner program links the Foundation and Congressional Medal of Honor Society with organizations that believe in the Recipients’ cause to inspire the country around values like courage, sacrifice, and integrity. Elite-level Mission Partners include Tri-West Healthcare Alliance, the National Medal of Honor Leadership and Education Center, and American Airlines.
