Join Us for Our Webinar with Medal of Honor Recipient Kyle J. White
As we begin 2021, many teachers still find themselves in a position to engage students through online learning. Our Character Development Program recognizes this change and has shifted to provide virtual learning versions of our curriculum. In addition, the CDP hosts monthly, virtual interviews with Medal of Honor Recipients to inspire students around the country with their stories of courage and selflessness.
On January 28th, we have invited Recipient Kyle J. White to join us for our live webinar. This interview is an opportunity for middle and high school students to hear directly from a Medal of Honor Recipient.
Share His Story
Specialist Kyle J. White was deployed to Nuristan Province, Afghanistan in 2007. He served as a radio telephone operator during combat operations against the enemy. On November 9th, 2007, the soldiers attended a meeting with the Aranas Village elders. During their return to Bella Outpost, they were ambushed on a steep mountain face.
Specialist Kyle J. White sprung into action and risked his own life to provide medical aid to the soldiers around him. When he had done all he could, he exposed himself once more to enemy fire to retrieve a working radio. His call to friendly forces allowed for precision airstrikes to end the enemy’s attack. Rescue helicopters were also sent in for his comrades.
In 2014, Kyle J. White was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama for going above and beyond the call of duty to save his fellow men.
