This film, produced by Rick Vaughn, is dedicated to the memory of John E. Kilmer. Secretary of the Navy Robert B. Anderson presents the Medal of Honor for John E. Kilmer to his mother, Lois B. Kilmer, at the Pentagon, on 8 July 1953. The Medal of Honor is the United States' highest military award for valor in combat. John E. Kilmer, a Navy Medical Corpsman serving with the 1st Marine Division, was killed as a result of his valorous actions during the Korean War.
