Albany Rural Cemetery, in Menands, New York, will dedicate a cenotaph to Terrence Begley, a Medal of Honor Recipient for the Civil War. Private Begley was killed in action at Reams Station, Virginia, in 1864 and his remains were not recovered.
The cenotaph was funded by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Gravemarker Program. This program allows researchers and next-of-kin to apply for a gravemarker or headstone for a Medal of Honor Recipient when the U.S. Veterans Administration or local funds cannot provide this distinction. The Society is pleased to be able to support efforts to memorialize Private Begley for future generations.
