Sgt. 1st Class Paul Ray Smith’s family wait for the applause from the
audience to die after President George W. Bush presented them with
Smith’s Medal of Honor April 4, 2005, at the White House. (From left)
Daughter Jessica, 18; wife, Birgit; and son David, 11, honor the
two-year anniversary of Smith’s death by receiving the award from
President George W. Bush. Smith died protecting his unit in Baghdad in
Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The Medal of Honor was presented to
Paul R. Smith on April 4th, 2005.
